Platform comparison

Compare ecommerce platforms side by side.

Select the brands you are considering and compare their Ecom Rating, features, ease of use, value, support, pricing, business fit and user feedback using the same data published in our company reviews.

01 · Ratings See where the score difference comes from.

Overall rating is shown alongside Features, Ease of Use, Value and Support.

02 · Cost Compare pricing in context.

Starting price sits next to business fit instead of being treated as an isolated number.

03 · Community User TrueScore remains separate.

Community feedback does not overwrite the editorial Ecom Rating.

04 · Detail Pros and cons come from the reviews.

Use the comparison to narrow the shortlist, then open the full review for deeper research.

Short description
Gumroad is a creator-commerce platform combining digital delivery, memberships, tax handling, team permissions and collaborative selling, with transaction-based pricing and an unusually detailed creator payout system.
Sellvia Mall is a digital marketplace for starting and growing an online business, offering ready-made businesses, websites, AI tools, content packs, business plans and other downloadable resources.
Pros
  • Unlimited team members can be added to one Gumroad account
  • Separate Admin, Marketing, Support and Accountant roles provide different permission levels
  • Financial and payout access can be restricted separately from marketing and product access
  • Collaborators can jointly manage individual products and receive an automatic share of every sale
  • Collaborator earnings are automatically credited to the collaborator's own Gumroad balance
  • Paid products priced above $0.99 can contain individual files up to 20 GB
  • There is no stated limit on the number of files that can be added to a paid product
  • Built-in license keys can support multi-seat software licenses
  • Multi-seat membership upgrades can charge customers a prorated amount immediately
  • Creators can choose daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly payout schedules when eligible
  • Creators can set their own payout threshold above the platform minimum
  • Payout reports can be exported with individual Gumroad fees and customer-level transaction data
  • Wide selection of ready-made resources for starting and growing an online business
  • Includes business plans, launch playbooks, websites, online stores, AI tools and content assets
  • Complete done-for-you business packages are available for users who want to skip much of the setup
  • 7-day free Business Pass trial provides access to the catalog and 5 downloads
  • Business Pass costs $9.99 per month after the trial
  • Paid Business Pass includes unlimited downloads from the included catalog
  • Downloaded products remain available after membership cancellation
  • New digital products are added to the catalog every week
  • Most products are delivered instantly with no physical shipping involved
  • Members receive a standing discount on selected premium and flagship products
  • Clear positioning around tools and templates rather than promises of income
  • Simple cancellation directly from the user account
Cons
  • New creator accounts can remain under payout review until Gumroad has enough legitimate sales data
  • The initial account review can take approximately 1–3 weeks depending on sales and risk signals
  • Gumroad says a typical review may require roughly 3–4 legitimate sales and a balance above $100
  • Every eligible sale normally has at least a 7-day holding period before payout
  • The standard minimum payout balance is $100 and some countries have higher local thresholds
  • A chargeback rate above 1% automatically pauses payouts until the rate returns to 1% or below
  • Changing the payout country can in some cases require forfeiting the existing Gumroad balance
  • PayPal payouts used as the payout method carry a 2% processing fee
  • Daily payouts are restricted to eligible US creators with at least four previous payouts
  • Instant payouts are limited to eligible US creators and currently carry a 3% fee
  • A collaborator can receive no more than 50% of a product's revenue share
  • Adding a collaborator to a product removes existing affiliates from that product
  • Team management is not currently supported in Gumroad's mobile apps
  • Free products are limited to 250 MB of total uploaded content
  • Unlimited downloads are not available during the free trial
  • The 7-day trial is limited to 5 downloads
  • A payment card is required to start the free trial
  • Some flagship and premium products are sold separately from the Business Pass
  • Business Pass does not automatically include every product available on Sellvia Mall
  • Some online business setups may still involve additional external costs such as domains or advertising
  • The catalog is still expanding, so some sections are deeper than others
  • Downloaded files can be used in your own business but cannot simply be redistributed or resold as files
  • The usefulness of the membership depends on how actively the downloaded resources are used
  • Sellvia Mall provides business tools and templates rather than guaranteed business outcomes
How to read the comparison

A higher score is only one part of the decision.

The comparison tool highlights stronger numeric scores, but the highest-rated platform is not automatically the best choice for every business. A lower-scoring platform can still be the better fit when its pricing model, workflow or target user matches your requirements more closely.
Ecom Rating
Use it as the broad editorial signal.

It summarizes the platform assessment on a 10-point scale and provides the starting point for comparison.

Breakdown
Look for the reason behind the total.

Features, Ease of Use, Value and Support show where one platform gains or loses ground against another.

Best For
Check whether the product is built around your use case.

A platform designed for creators, B2B merchants or multi-store businesses should not be judged only by the same headline score.

User TrueScore
Use community ratings as a second perspective.

Approved user feedback is displayed separately from the editorial score so the two signals remain easy to distinguish.

Comparison FAQ

Before you choose.

The tool is designed for shortlisting rather than declaring one universal winner. Compare the numbers, then use the individual reviews to investigate the differences that matter to your business.

How many ecommerce platforms can I compare at once?
You can compare between two and four company cards at the same time. Keeping the group small makes the detailed rating, pricing, pros and cons rows easier to evaluate side by side.
Are the comparison scores separate from the company reviews?
No. The comparison plugin reads the same company-card data used throughout Ecom Ratings. If an editorial rating or other company field is updated, the comparison reflects the updated card rather than maintaining a second independent score.
Does the highest Ecom Rating mean that platform is always the best choice?
No. The Ecom Rating is a broad editorial assessment. Pricing, category, business fit and the individual Features, Ease of Use, Value and Support scores may make another platform a stronger match for a specific use case.
What is the difference between Ecom Rating and User TrueScore?
Ecom Rating is the site’s editorial score on a 10-point scale. User TrueScore is a separate community rating based on approved user reviews and uses a 5-star scale.
Can I send someone a link to a specific comparison?
Yes. After selecting at least two brands, use the comparison tool’s “Copy comparison link” button. The selected company slugs are stored in the URL so the same comparison can be reopened directly.
